The Most Effective Home Remedies for Zits

Zits or pimples are a common occurrence and often become a part of daily life. You do not need to buy a topical cream or contact your dermatologist to receive treatment for these zits. They come and go as they please and you can only try to prevent them. You can also try effective home remedies for zits to reduce their visibility and make it seem like they never existed. Listed below are some natural remedies which will help you get rid of your pimples:

Lemon juice

Dab a little lemon juice onto your zit. Lemon’s astringent properties will suck out the oil present in the zit and will also shrink the blemish. Remember to wash it off before you step out into the sun as it could result in bleaching. Your skin can also become more sensitive to the sun.

Clay mask

Take 1 tsp of clay and mix it with distilled water to make a paste. This paste should be thick so that you can apply it to your face. Apply it on the zit and leave it for either 20 minutes or overnight. Cosmetic clays might be very effective as on some skin types they are known to reduce the pimple in a single night.

Lavender oil or tea tree oil

These essential oils are available in many e–stores and can be purchased at physical stores which sell herbal products. These oils are useful for many purposes. Both these essential oils are the most effective home remedies for zits. They completely destroy zits. Apply just one single drop on each zit and leave it overnight.

Potatoes and tomatoes

Rub a slice of potato on the zit and leave it for at least 20 minutes. If you want you can leave it all day upon your face. Extract fresh tomato juice. Rinse your face, apply this juice on your face and leave it on for an hour. Do not forget to wash it after an hour or two.

Cinnamon and honey

Take ½ tsp of cinnamon and add honey to it. Mix to make a paste. Apply it on the zit and leave it on for at least 20 minutes. If you wish to you can keep it overnight.

Witch hazel

This is an excellent astringent. Use a cotton ball and apply over a zit. Hold it over the zit for a while and notice the difference yourself.

Strawberries are used to enhance whiteness of teeth. Place a bit of the flesh of this fruit on the zit and rub softly for at least 30 minutes. Wash it off after some time.

Green tea

You do not need to drink the tea. Make ice cubes out of green tea and rub it over the zit. Do this 2 to 3 times a day and you will notice reduction in the size of the blemish. Your skin will become oil free as green tea acts as an astringent.

Peel a clove of garlic and mash it up well. Apply this mashed paste to your pimples and let it set for 20 minutes.
